We’re pleased to announce that Board Games Ireland will be hosting our first gaming convention this August.
This will be a con dedicated to just tabletop and board gaming.
It takes place on Saturday August 5th 2017 and will be running from 11am until late.
The location is the The Teachers’ Club on Parnell Square. We’ve booked out their large hall room which you can see below:
It’s big and bright and we’ll have plenty of large tables ideal for gaming. There’s also a full bar on premises and food is also available.
To pay for the room and cover the costs organising of this event we’ll be charging €12 for tickets.
We’ll have a large selection of games there on the day, but as usual feel free to bring along your own games.
So to sum up:
When: August 5th 2017 (the bank holiday weekend)
Where: The Teachers’ Club, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1.
Cost: €12 per ticket (€8 unwaged)
(We’ll have online ticket sales soon, but if you want to secure a ticket now then you can make a payment to Eoin Keaney , Gavin Byrne or Peter McCann at any of the regular meet ups.)

We currently run meet ups twice a week over at meetup.com:
We’re having the Tuesday night meet ups at Alfie Byrne’s pub next to the conrad hotel and across the road from the National Concert Hall. We’ve been using this location for the Sunday meet ups and it’s far more suitable for us. It also has plenty of good food and drink.
More info and location here: http://www.galwaybaybrewery.com/alfiebyrnes/
We’ll have board games there on the night, but feel free to bring along any of your own to play. We’ll be meeting at 7pm until around 10pm. Late comers always welcome 🙂
Thanks to Poul Madsen for this little video of our meet up from this week. It was really busy one too with around 40 people in attendance and 2 simultaneous Game Of Thrones campaigns going on.
We meet up every Tuesday from 7 in Thomas Read’s pub on Dame Street in Dublin 2. All welcome!

BoardGamesIreland.com’s own meet up group has grown to over 300 members over the last weekend. This is pretty impressive as there were just 4 of us meeting up in a tea shop back in January.
It’s great to meet so many new people and to try out all the different games that they bring along with them.
The meet up group meets every Tuesday evening at 7pm in Thomas Reads pub on Dame Street, Dublin. As summer rolls in we may look at organising some weekend day time meetups and possibly even some outdoor ones weather permitting.
Geeks Go Gaming are back again this month with another meet up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street from 1.30pm on Sunday the 22nd of June.

Sounds like it might be worth getting down for the Friday this year as they’re having a Gaming Demo Day which going to be a gala of games in the main BroCon hall, with games designers, gamers running demos for you to try out a bunch of new games. Expect board games, card games, video games and more.
There’s a great line of traders as well:
Dungeons and Donuts will be there. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried their donuts:
