Thanks to everyone who came out to BGIcon… It’s was a BGI SUCCESS!

I think it went very well and we learned a lot from running it. We’ll almost certainly be running another one next year so stay tuned for details. Frank recored some content for the podcast so we’ll have that featured in our next episode.

Also recently we surpassed 3000 members on the meet up group. We’ve come a long way since our first meet up in a tea shop 4 years ago.

Only found out about 2nd Chance Con after I’d recorded the recent podcast so didn’t get to mention it.

Event Description

2nd Chance Con is a Charity Games Convention running in Dublin on 20th and 21st August 2016 in the Teachers Club on Parnell Square West. The Con will give you a second chance to play the games you missed from Ireland’s most talented games writers, as well as trying new and exciting experimental games.

They will have RPGs, Larps and Boardgames as well as a number of special events.

Tickets are €15 for the weekend or €10 for a single day.

Q-Con is the annual Gaming & Anime Convention hosted by QUB Dragonslayers, the Queen’s University Belfast Gaming and Anime Society. This year Q-Con returns for its 21st year and promises to continue its tradition of providing the UK & Irelands’ greatest weekend of gaming and anime entertainment.

Last year was a huge with over 7000 people attending over the weekend.

International TableTop Day is a celebration for all the fans of tabletop gaming. A single day where the whole world is brought together in a common purpose of spending time together and having fun.

Here’s a round up of all the Irish events we’ve heard of, if you’ve heard of any more then let us know.


Our own meet up on the day. We’ll be located upstairs in the Long Stone Pub in Dublin 2 from 12.00.

Geeks Go Gaming

On the other side of Liffey Geeks Go Gaming are having a  meet up in The Black Sheep pub in Dublin 1 from 13.30.

Dublin Comic Mart

Dublin Comic Mart is on in the Central Hotel on Exchequer St. this Saturday and they’ll have tables set aside for gaming. And they’re open from 10am.


The newly opened game and puzzle department in Eason’s on O’Connell Street will be taking part.

Gamers World

This board game shop on Jervis Street will be taking part on the day.

The Warchest

The Dun Laoghaire based gaming shop will be hosting an event on the day starting at noon and featuring board games such as Space Hulk, Settlers of Catan and Eclipse.

Sub City

Comic and gaming shop Sub City recently moved to a new larger premises on Dame Street and will be breaking it in this Saturday with some gaming.

UCD Game Soc

The UCD gaming society will be running an event on the campus from 12 noon.

Outside Dublin:

Bro Day – Limerick

As part of their fund raising day for the BroCon Convention (Have been to it twice, good con) they’re taking part in Table Top Day.

NUIM – Maynooth, Co. Kildare

They’ll be taking part in Table Top day on campus.

Hobby Shack – Wicklow

The Last Chancers are running an event in the Hobby Shack in Wicklow town.

Blackcat Games – Kilkenny

They’ll be running several events over the course of the day.


“A fundraising BroCon event to offer a taste of what’s to come this July 18th-20th at BroCon 2014.

Pre-registration for BroCon 2014 will be available in person at BroDay, so for those of you without credit cards or PayPal, this is a must go to event.

For those pre-registering for BroCon, entry to BroDay is free. For all else it is a mere €5 at the door. Under 12’s enter free. However for ALL , all events at BroDay are FREE.

As part of our event schedule join us for Geek and Sundry’s International TableTop Day. Come and play your favorite games with your friends, or join a table with some new people and make new friends. We will be supplying an entensive gaming library for all of your gaming needs, however feel free to bring your own games and play also. And with any luck, you may get to go home with your very own Trophy of Awesome. There will be some free giveaways as part of our TableTop Day as well.

Console games will be running Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Soul Caliber V, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Mario Kart DS. Full details and rules for these events can be found on our site.

In the realm of CCGs, there will be events for Magic Standard and Yu-Gi-Oh Advanced Constructed, as well as demos for FutureCard BuddyFight, CardFight Vanguard, MTG, Pokemon, and more.

For the less inclined to gaming, there will also be the cosplay masquerade and the lolita picnic.

In addition to the number of events on the day, Luka Wall will be present to sell prints and show you what to expect from her artist stall this summer. Also, Naomi O’ Mara will be selling some plushies on the day.

Celebrating it’s 35th year, Leprecon takes place in the Goldsmith Hall in Trinity college this weekend. Plenty of boardgames, RPGS and LARPS to enjoy.
