Irish Board Game Meet Ups
Hi everyone!
We’re almost there. BGIcon is almost upon us. It takes place this Saturday the 4th of August and I hope to see lots of you there as it’s sure to be a great day.
So this post is just to go over the details of the convention.
Due to popular demand BGICON is back and while not bigger and better than ever, it will probably marginally larger and slightly better.
This is a con dedicated to just tabletop and board gaming.
It takes place on Saturday August 4th 2018 and will be running from 11am until late.
Thanks to everyone who came out to BGIcon… It’s was a BGI SUCCESS!
I think it went very well and we learned a lot from running it. We’ll almost certainly be running another one next year so stay tuned for details. Frank recored some content for the podcast so we’ll have that featured in our next episode.
Also recently we surpassed 3000 members on the meet up group. We’ve come a long way since our first meet up in a tea shop 4 years ago.
Hi everyone!
We’re almost there. BGIcon, our first game convention is almost upon us. It takes place this Saturday the 5th of August and I hope to see lots of you there as it’s sure to be a great day.
So this post is just to go over the details of the convention.
We’re pleased to announce that Board Games Ireland will be hosting our first gaming convention this August.
This will be a con dedicated to just tabletop and board gaming.
It takes place on Saturday August 5th 2017 and will be running from 11am until late.
We currently run meet ups twice a week over at meetup.com:
*****NEW LOCATION****
We’re having the Tuesday night meet ups at Alfie Byrne’s pub next to the conrad hotel and across the road from the National Concert Hall. We’ve been using this location for the Sunday meet ups and it’s far more suitable for us. It also has plenty of good food and drink.
More info and location here: http://www.galwaybaybrewery.com/alfiebyrnes/
We’ll have board games there on the night, but feel free to bring along any of your own to play. We’ll be meeting at 7pm until around 10pm. Late comers always welcome 🙂
Thanks to Poul Madsen for this little video of our meet up from this week. It was really busy one too with around 40 people in attendance and 2 simultaneous Game Of Thrones campaigns going on.
We meet up every Tuesday from 7 in Thomas Read’s pub on Dame Street in Dublin 2. All welcome!
BoardGamesIreland.com’s own meet up group has grown to over 300 members over the last weekend. This is pretty impressive as there were just 4 of us meeting up in a tea shop back in January.
It’s great to meet so many new people and to try out all the different games that they bring along with them.
The meet up group meets every Tuesday evening at 7pm in Thomas Reads pub on Dame Street, Dublin. As summer rolls in we may look at organising some weekend day time meetups and possibly even some outdoor ones weather permitting.
BroCon is a gaming and anime convention that takes place in Limerick. I’ve been a few times now and it’s always good fun.
More info here:
Sounds like it might be worth getting down for the Friday this year as they’re having a Gaming Demo Day which going to be a gala of games in the main BroCon hall, with games designers, gamers running demos for you to try out a bunch of new games. Expect board games, card games, video games and others like slot games online which you can find in sites like maravipost online.
There’s a great line of traders as well:

Dungeons and Donuts will be there. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried their donuts:
