Just writing to let everyone know that our board game convention BGICON has now been scheduled for Saturday January 9th 2027.

This is an opportunity for us to play larger games over a full day on big tables in a well lit room without loud music or other distractions that we'd typically get at our regular pub based meetups. And also, coming right after the holiday period maybe lots of us will have fresh new board games we'll want to crack open.

We're back at the Dublin Airport Hilton again, which is where we held the last con back in Febuary of this year and it worked out really well as a venue. There is free secure underground parking for attendees to BGICON which is great for those of you who want to bring along a big bunch of heavy games.

Please note that in order to cover the cost of the room hire and the annual Meetup.com organiser fees this is the only Board Games Ireland event that we request payment for but we do our best to keep costs as low as possible for you.

Tickets are available at bgicon.ie with 3 payment options and early bird tickets available up until the 15th of November. Anyone who has purchased a ticket before the 15th will also be entered into a draw for a boardgame prize.

If you pay via Eventbrite there's a €1.99 transaction fee but you'll get issued a ticket right away. If you use one of the other payment options make sure to make a note of your email address to us and we'll get a ticket out to you within 24 hours. (Please note, you don't really need the tickets so no need to print anything out or even have it ready on your phone, we'll have a list of everyone who paid at entrance to the con on the day so all you have to do is check in. I just know from last year people liked to get a ticket confirmation so I'm accomadating that.)

What to expect on the day?

It's mostly like our regular meetups but you have a much longer day to work with and very large tables in a well lit room.

Raffle -

We'll have a big prize draw raffle on the day at 18.00 (If you need to leave before then, we can keep an eye on your tickets for you)

A Buy and Sell Table -

Bring along old games that you don't get to the table anymore or pick up some bargains from other members.]

Trade Table -

We're pleased to welcome the new business 'The Fat Dragon' to BGICON 2027 They're based out of Ashbourne, Co. Meath so please give them a visit if you're in that neck of the woods. You can find their website here: thefatdragon.ie

Retro Video Games -

We'll have a little retro video game section so you can have something to do if you find yourself waiting for a game to open up. (This was popular at the last BGICON)

Special Events & Tournaments -

I'd love to see some tournaments and events at BGICON 2027. But we're going to need your help. Got any ideas and want volunteer to run it? Got a game you developed yourself and you want to demo it? Hop over to our Discord and join the converstion or feel free to drop me a message on here if there's something you want to do. For example this could be as simple as taking on to run a big game of something like Twilight Imperium on the day. Just let me know your idea and I'll support you as best I can.

That's all I can think of for now. Any questions feel free to drop me a message on here or head over to our Discord.

Thanks for reading!

Gavin.
